Christmas will be different…

Unfortunately “quarantine” has lasted longer than expected…

Some states have very strict social distancing rules and many families won’t be able to be together like they usually do this year.

There is no easy answer for what to do during these times. As Christians’ we should not live in fear. We should be respectful of other people, but it’s okay for people to have differing opinions on matters.

So we will have to be creative this Christmas. One thing for sure is that everything will be okay. We shouldn’t fear disaster.

“Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.” Proverbs 3:25-27 NIVĀ

We can look hopefully into the future knowing God has our backs. He hasn’t let us be snared. He is holding us. He is reminding us of what we have and blessing us with battles won that we can’t even see. God is fighting for us. so yes, Christmas will look different. We can look back on memories of Christmas past and also look forward to the excitement of celebrating Jesus.

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in gifts or parties, but this year we can look at Jesus and focus on his heart. What is Jesus telling you to do? Pray for others, cook or bring food to relatives who are having a more difficult time, focus on your friends or family that you live with? Or even FOCUS on him.

It’s okay to be sad and mourn what used to happen but we only get to live once so it’s important to focus and live in the present. You will never get these moments back. Hug your husband or your kids and cherish it. Relish the sound of your friends voices’s on FaceTime.

You will get through this. You are not alone. Nothing lasts forever in this earthly kingdom. Change is coming. So let’s celebrate the one who’s love lasts for eternity, Jesus- Emanuel- God with us.
