Finding grace for yourself
Sometimes the biggest bully we face is ourself. No one keeps a better record of what we’ve done wrong than us. We push ourselves and demean ourselves, but shouldn’t we be the kindest?
We alone know what we’ve been through. We know the hurts and the hells we’ve faced. So why is it so hard to forgive ourselves?
I don’t have the answer but I know we can ask God to give us grace for ourselves. Looking to what Jesus taught, he said to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Most of the time I find it easier to love my neighbor more than me.
If God created me in his image and knew me in my mother’s womb, if he says I have worth and was fearfully and wonderfully made, then I should know that I am loved. I should be able to love myself because God loves me. But that is sometimes a hard task.
If you struggle with this as well then hopefully today you can find a new perspective. God loves you and extends you grace so today be gentle with yourself and extend yourself some grace.
No, you are not perfect. You are the only person who expects perfection from yourself. God knows you’re broken, and that’s a part of being human. It’s okay to be human and need more than a second chance. You deserve all the chances.
Forgive yourself today. And forgive yourself tomorrow. It’s an everyday type subject. It’s okay to be broken. Jesus is an expert in broken things. That’s why he’s there for us everyday. He never takes a break, because humanity is a full time job. And you are doing a good job.
How can you be kinder to yourself today?
Are you being fulfilled by God?
How can you be more gracious to yourself/others?
