Review of confessions of a shopaholic
I watched “Confessions of a Shopaholic” last night and it was so adorable. It touches on so many subjects that moved my heart. You may be thinking, why in the world are you writing a review/talking about this Y2K movie?
This show reminded me of the good in my father! My dad is a gruff man. He can be rough around the edges like many dads. But he can also be very loving and thoughtful. The dad in this movie was funny, he was a bigger guy like my dad, he sat in his recliner in the living room. And he also stood up and fought for his little girl.
The heart of this man in the show is the same as the heart of our Heavenly Father. He fights for us. He provides for us.
I also loved the main character Rebecca. Let’s honest She was spunky. She had a tendency to have wild ideas. But those ideas were exactly what people needed. She was completely and unapologetically herself. Rebecca reminded me that I can be myself.
The show also spoke to addiction. While “shopping” could be thought of as a silly addiction it can be one! Everyone has their own addiction as well. It’s not our place to judge people. This movie can be a motivator to look into yourself and see where you can grow and change in healthy ways.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted movie check this out. It’s silly and sweet. You can look for the things I’ve mentioned and find things that speak to you.
