Finding good in the little things
This week has been very busy in my own life. Mean customers, lots of chores to do at home, appointments and phone calls to be made…lets say it hasn’t been easy. On those days where it feels like so many things are going right just to have them or other things go wrong, what do you do?
It can be very easy to say screw it, “I’m over it”, and be in a bad mood. This happens a lot, at least for me. Even in the bad I look for the good as well. Even in a sad movie I saw my favorite number meaning even before I ever knew the movie was being filmed God picked that number for me to see.
Look at your life. What do you see right now? A messy house or room? Do you see God’s grace all around you? Sometimes we have to change our perspective. Just with a drawing of a lifelike object, flipping the page around along with the reference can actually help you with a hard part of the drawing. You are no longer drawing what you know to be a nose or a hand or hoof, now you’re just drawing shapes.
How can you flip your problem upside down so its no longer that anxiety sitting on your chest, but just another thing for you to work on? Sometimes its bringing people you care about into your situation, and sometimes it’s the act of bringing it to God.
God knows what you’re dealing with. He’s not scared of it. He sees you and he knows you. Whatever it is you can be honest. Just bringing it to light will make the shadows disappear.
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outside of a person. But the Lord looks at what is in the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7.
While in this passage Samuel is looking at all these men thinking, “oh he is the chosen one for sure.” God was like no son, do not judge them based on stature and how handsome they are. God looking at David and how he was choosing him to be king. David was the youngest brother, the smallest in stature.
God wasn’t looking at just the outer appearance and I’d like to add that to every problem we have. You can’t just look at the surface. You have to dig. You have to see the root.
How can you look at the root of what is bothering you this week?
Questions and challenges of the week:
What are you looking for?
How can you seek to see the good in your life?
Are you choosing to find joy?
