    Blah days

Blah days are those days you feel like crap or you just feel icky. We all get them. You’re not sick but you don’t want to do anything. It might be a day after you’ve been sick but isn’t necessarily. These days are the ones you look at yourself and think, “Where is my motivation?” “how am I supposed to do life today?” On blah days you have to extend yourself grace. It’s okay to read your book and watch some TV or a video on your phone. Some days you need to rest. You can still be productive. Take a nap and eat some food and you will most…

    Where’s my blessings?

Recently, I’ve been talking a lot about trusting God through the hard times. I’ve said it’s important to fight for your life and love. Which is true, but maybe you’re just plain tired. Maybe you’re at the end of yourself and you’re thinking, “Where is my blessing at?” “I’m a good person.” “I’ve done everything right.” “Why is everything going wrong?” Is that you? Are you scared and hungry for more, more goodness, more sweetness. Something that is easy to catch. I’ve been listening to Elevation church’s Holly and Steven Furtick. If you haven’t listened to their sermons about favor you HAVE to listen to them. Anyway, Holly talked about…

    Fight back!

Hey! What is going on? Has sh*t hit the fan? Does it feel like nothing can go right for you? Yeah that sounds familiar. Guess what? Just like how you aren’t nice just because others are nice to you, but you’re nice to just be nice, you can hope for good things even though bad things are happening because bad things don’t last forever. Nothing lasts forever except for love and for Jesus. So, what I’m saying is that this season of pain won’t last forever. There will be an end, every season has an end. Just like in Cobra Kai we have to fight! Maybe not in the same…

Loving, even when you don’t want to

We know love is the greatest commandment because Jesus said it was. Loving our neighbor is important but it can be HARD! How are we supposed to love when people are reckless, lack morals, and hard-hearted? It can be hard, so we must pray. Pray for ourselves and for for the people around us. You may ask, “Is it selfish to pray for myself first?” NO! Praying for yourself so you can have peace while handling situations with people who are causing you hardships/are difficult to love in the moment is important. You must be filled up first before you can pour out to others! “But I say, love your…

    Hoping in God, not things

It can be easy to put your hope in your job, your home or your family. But we’re not meant to hope in those things. We are meant to hope in God. I am a creative and imaginative person so I tend to set big expectations for things. I dream big and crash harder when those dreams don’t come true. When I set my hope in God, he can never let me down. If my hope is truly in him I won’t feel crushed when I lose my job or I don’t get the house I want. I think it’s okay to be sad if those things happen but we…

    Wear it!

Some days insecurity gets the better of us. We feel fat, unloved and unworthy. Let me tell you, weight has no determination of your character. Your loveliness doesn’t come from the numbers on the scale or the size of your jeans. Fat is nothing to be ashamed of or feel unworthy of. You are loved and worthy despite all those things. Today you are going to put on your coat of many colors. Just like Joseph did. It was a symbol of the love his father, Jacob, had for him. So put on your coat. Maybe it’s a purse or socks. Whatever it is, put it on! Remember God loves…

Mourning and trying to enjoy the season

The loss of loved ones hits deep. The pain may never fully go away but we know if they were a believer, you will see them again. Time can dull the pain a little but when something like the holiday season comes around it can be hard not to miss the people you used to spend it with. Emotional triggers can pop up anywhere. You don’t have to feel ashamed of tears that may fall down your face. It is completely normal to feel this way. You are not alone in your mourning. You have not been abandoned. You can look for a trusted friend or family member and tell…

    Finding grace for yourself

Sometimes the biggest bully we face is ourself. No one keeps a better record of what we’ve done wrong than us. We push ourselves and demean ourselves, but shouldn’t we be the kindest? We alone know what we’ve been through. We know the hurts and the hells we’ve faced. So why is it so hard to forgive ourselves? I don’t have the answer but I know we can ask God to give us grace for ourselves. Looking to what Jesus taught, he said to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Most of the time I find it easier to love my neighbor more than me. If God created me…

    Christmas will be different…

Unfortunately “quarantine” has lasted longer than expected… Some states have very strict social distancing rules and many families won’t be able to be together like they usually do this year. There is no easy answer for what to do during these times. As Christians’ we should not live in fear. We should be respectful of other people, but it’s okay for people to have differing opinions on matters. So we will have to be creative this Christmas. One thing for sure is that everything will be okay. We shouldn’t fear disaster. “Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be…

The God who fights for you

If you are feeling down and out recently, have no fear God is there! Sometimes we are too weak to deal with our current situations because we have been fighting on our own for way too long. We aren’t meant to live our lives alone so that means we don’t have to fight on our own. God had been fighting your battle for you. He’s been protecting you from battles you have no idea have occurred. The battles you can see will be taken care of as well. Jesus fought the ultimate battle. Jesus has beaten sin so that we may live with him for eternity. When you feel alone…
