Falling into the grip of lies
It can be easy to believe lies. The enemy (aka the Devil, Satan, whatever you want to call him) comes dressed up in pretty clothes, and beautiful mirages. He tells you your worthless and small and tells you to do things you wouldn’t normally do. But why do we believe them? Sometimes his voice gets disguised by our own voice in our heads or by the voice of someone we trust.
A big lie i believed for a few years was “If your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough.” Here’s the thing, the Bible, God’s word says “Do not fear,” 365 times. So why did I believe I had to be scared to have a big enough dream? Because it was a lie I believed would get me to better places. A higher paying job, a job that could help people. But God already told me what I should do. He told me to write.
Sit down or find a place that you can quiet your heart and ask, “God what do you want me to do with my life?”
Listen to that. “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy: I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 NIV.
There’s a difference between being uncomfortable in a new season and being scared of the new thing. Find the difference for yourself and see that God will provide for you.
Challenge questions:
Have you asked God what he wants you to do?
What lies are covering you? Break them off in the name of Jesus.
What promises and words of God can you write down for yourself to say when you are being attacked with the lies of the enemy? (One could be I am fearfully and wonderfully made).
