when depression hits
Recently, feelings of depression have hit me hard. There are a lot of different views on depression and anxiety. If people have told you that what you’re dealing with is not real or that you should think happy thoughts instead you are seen. I hear you. It is very hurtful to be told what you’re dealing with is not valid. God sees you and he hears your heart too. Anxiety and depression are a lot to deal with. It is hard to do things when you are experiencing symptoms of them. I wish I could tell you there was an instant fix to all to these illnesses. As a Christian…

Choices
Everyday we’re bombarded with choices. What to eat, wear and do. Some choices come easily but what about the choices that don’t? How do you know if you’re doing what’s best? Obviously, it depends on you. Everyone is different so what is good for your family member may not be whats good for you. God has given us freedom of choice so we can be ourselves. It’s okay that you are different than your friends and family. It’s okay to stand out. You are not weird or abnormal. You are perfect the way God has made you. You have to make the choices that are best for you. Sometimes that…

Taste & See
“Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!” Psalm 34:8. There have been days the past few months that you could say “I’m not tasting anything! NOTHING is good!” That is valid. If you’ve felt that way recently, you are valid. Crappy things happen a lot in life. It can be hard to see the good. Especially with an “invisible” God, it can be hard to “see” the good in moments of trouble. If God is invisible what am I supposed to be tasting? I say invisible because it can be hard to see God. He doesn’t talk to us in a physical body or a statue but he’s there.…

LET’S FIND JOY
It has been a crazy crazy past few months. Life has been challenging and unforgiving. I feel like I should be talking about depression and the deep sadness I’ve felt recently, BUT God wants to talk about JOY! It’s totally understandable to feel sadness. The sadness and depression you have been experiencing for almost year are totally valid. The causes for those feelings are real and you are seen in this time by a God who knows how you are feeling and is here to comfort you. It’s also totally okay to lean into goodness and seek kindness and something full of light. Today is the day the Lord has…

Loving, even when you don’t want to
We know love is the greatest commandment because Jesus said it was. Loving our neighbor is important but it can be HARD! How are we supposed to love when people are reckless, lack morals, and hard-hearted? It can be hard, so we must pray. Pray for ourselves and for for the people around us. You may ask, “Is it selfish to pray for myself first?” NO! Praying for yourself so you can have peace while handling situations with people who are causing you hardships/are difficult to love in the moment is important. You must be filled up first before you can pour out to others! “But I say, love your…

Start each day with a grateful heart!
Sometimes life can feel really mundane and tiring. My first year of college I became depressed and it became difficult to get out of bed in the morning. That’s when I would state 5 things I was grateful for. It could be anything. Like my bed, dog, fiance, or car. Whatever I thought of I would say it and it gave me the motivation to get up when I all I wanted to do was go back to sleep for the rest of my life lol. What does the bible say about gratefulness? Gratitude is spoken of a lot in Psalms, but here is a well known verse: Psalms 118:1…
