when depression hits
Recently, feelings of depression have hit me hard. There are a lot of different views on depression and anxiety. If people have told you that what you’re dealing with is not real or that you should think happy thoughts instead you are seen. I hear you. It is very hurtful to be told what you’re dealing with is not valid. God sees you and he hears your heart too. Anxiety and depression are a lot to deal with. It is hard to do things when you are experiencing symptoms of them. I wish I could tell you there was an instant fix to all to these illnesses. As a Christian…

Hoping in God, not things
It can be easy to put your hope in your job, your home or your family. But we’re not meant to hope in those things. We are meant to hope in God. I am a creative and imaginative person so I tend to set big expectations for things. I dream big and crash harder when those dreams don’t come true. When I set my hope in God, he can never let me down. If my hope is truly in him I won’t feel crushed when I lose my job or I don’t get the house I want. I think it’s okay to be sad if those things happen but we…

In need of heart surgery?
Now, I’m not talking about the type of surgery that comes from a heart attack, I’m talking about your heart of heart. The real deep part of you that feels and hurts and loves. Heart surgery can come by surprise. Sometimes you need it for past hurts or traumas that you have been dealing with unconsciously. Sometimes it happens with new wounds or fear you’re dealing with currently. Recently I’ve been in need of heart surgery. I don’t deal well with stress and I have been plastered with it. Everyday something new happened that I had to deal with. I was also dealing with anger and feeling misunderstood/not heard. Those…

Winning the war with yourself
Some days it’s hard to move. It’s hard to get going, to work or eat or take care of yourself, let alone anyone else. Some days it’s not easy to be you. Today felt like one of those days. It was a crawl back in bed and not get up unless I have to day. It wasn’t just the sadness weighing me down, it was something else too. A part of me didn’t want to try. I was given some wisdom, to spend time with God. But I didn’t want to do that. It was too hard to even try. So I fell asleep. The importance of sleep has probably…

Joy despite the circumstances
Today we need JOY! Today we need to have HOPE! Today is your day for BREAKTHROUGH! Today we will claim the good! No matter what we are going through we can know that God is on our side. Let’s claim joy today. Circumstances have been tough lately but God is good. God is the same today, yesterday and forever. Just because situations change, it doesn’t mean God does! God cares for you. He cares about your wellbeing, mentally and physically. Today let’s take a deep breath and trust what he says is truth and is good.

Separation from bitterness
If you are dealing with anger and resentment in your heart it’s time to address it. You did not deserve to be treated the way you have been. You deserve respect and healthy boundaries. When we take the time to separate ourselves from the bitterness we feel we allow love to come in. Releasing bitterness is extending grace. Not just to the person or event that caused you bitterness but to your own heart. Bitterness robs you of joy. It robs you of friendships, relationships, love, peace. Forgiveness and grace bring about so much healing in the heart and mind. We have been called to love the unlovable and when…

Letting Love In
In life we all go through stuff. We all have our own hurts and scars. Trauma and broken hearts can lead us to shy away from love. But love is not something to run away from or to keep hidden. It can be scary and hard to accept love when someone is trying to give it to you. You might be afraid of it. Afraid of getting hurt and losing something inside of you. But pure love is healing. Sometimes you just have to let people love you. Letting people love you doesn’t have to be big things. It can be accepting a gift or a coffee from a friend.…

Peace
“Peace bring it all to peace,” the lyrics from Mosaic MSC’s Tremble are a godsend for this crazy time. God will provide. God has “Praise the name of God forever and ever . . . He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings” Daniel 2:20-21). (Not stating this as a political belief of mine) God knows what he is doing. He doesn’t allow kings or presidents to be brought into power without his knowledge. The Lord will protect us. He loves his children. He hates to see the brokenness that has already come out before the election. God cries when innocent men die…
