Thriving is for today

Sometimes we like to think of things in future tense. We think, ”I’ll start tomorrow,” ”when I’m healed I can do that.” There are circumstances that hinder our growth at times like surgeries, living restrictions, etc. but even if we can not reach our goal tomorrow, we can still strive for it.

God has given us the power of the holy spirit so that means we are not facing today alone. We have access to the living God to give us strength, comfort and peace. That means we can live each day with purpose. We don’t live ordinary lives, everything is extravagant because that is who our God is.

Some days are harder than others. Some days our failures leech onto our backs and remind us of our hurts. But God is kind and gracious. He gives us peace and hope.

When you are feeling like you are barely surviving remember you have been given tools to find peace. Reading the Bible, worshipping and listening to sermons or devotions are ways you can actively seek God when you’re feeling low.

“By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back from living by your righteous order. Everything’s falling apart on me, God; put me together again with your Word. Adorn me with your finest sayings, God; teach me your holy rules. My life is as close as my own hands, but I don’t forget what you have revealed. The wicked do their best to throw me off track, but I don’t swerve an inch from your course. I inherited your book on living; it’s mine forever— what a gift! And how happy it makes me! I concentrate on doing exactly what you say— I always have and always will. ”
